STORY/GAMEPLAY:Back in the lawless era of Prohibition you control a lone cop in America defending the streets against the gangsters and the bootleggers. Each of the ten available stages consists of a single screen in which men pop out from windows, roofs and boxes, firing bullets and hurling Molotov cocktails at you, which you must of course dodge. If you survive (not losing all of your nine available lives) for a set period of time, you will be taken to the next screen. Some bonuses in the form of flying bi-planes, cars as well as birds and bottles can give you extra score if you manage to shoot at too.
Cop-out is a fairly easy and fun game for its era, though it can easily get boring due to its repetitive gameplay.
GRAPHICS/SOUND:Technically the game is fine, considering that it’s a mid 80's game released for the 8 bit home computers. The CPC offers pretty colorful visuals, but detail is missing in most of the backdrop scenery, mainly occupied by black color. Sprites move relative well too.
The music on the menu is a nice rendition of a very well known piano tune back in early '30s, while during gameplay a few, and rather basic, sound effects of gunshots and explosions accompany your mission.
